Antoine Henri Becquerel, French physicist. Born 15 December 1852 in Paris, died 25 August 1908 in Le Croisic, France.
In 1896, Becquerel accidentally discovered radioactivity while investigating phosphorescence[?] in uranium salts. In 1903 he shared Nobel prize for Physics with Pierre and Marie Curie "in recognition of the extraordinary services he has rendered by his discovery of spontaneous radioactivity".
